Queen Elizabeth's Drop Scones, Scotch Pancakes Recipe

Queen Elizabeth's Drop Scones, Scotch Pancakes Recipe Yes, it's time for royal wedding (remember, at least for those of us old enough to Charles and Di and Andrew and Fergie) once. In honor of this festive occasion fall, we present a recipe for cake, or as a "Scotch pancake known that Queen Elizabeth did for President Dwight Eisenhower, during his visit to Balmoral Castle in 1959. According to the National Archives, Queen Drop scones prepared by the President, with a family recipe. Later he sent the President a letter and enclosed the recipe, with notes and a proposal to use molasses instead of sugar.

When I started testing this recipe, I could not understand why the dough is more of a pancake batter, and not "cake-like"as I had thought. Here in the States think scones, drop by drop, like cookies, instead of cutting out a triangular scones for baking sprinkle the dough from spoon onto the baking sheet. But, "scones fall"in parts of the United Kingdom, especially Scotland, Balmoral Castle, where present, more formal American pancakes scones. Drop Scones are thicker than American pancakes, and a little less.
