A study to identify diagnostic approaches to primary care physicians and gynecologists for women with symptoms that were associated with ovarian cancer.
METHODS: A vignette-based survey was sent to 3200 family physicians from the American Medical Association physician masterfile. The vignette described a 55-year-old woman with symptoms associated with ovarian cancer, but ovarian cancer was never mentioned. The authors evaluated the patient, physician and practice characteristics, the processing could recognize ovarian cancer associated.
